For those with an academic interest, these courses can be a useful precursor to the BBKA examinations in beekeeping proficiency. The starting point and entry requirement for all examinations and assessments is the Basic Assessment in Beekeeping; this practical assessment tests the basic skills and knowledge of the craft. Under 18s can take the Junior Certificate before the Basic if they prefer.
