Welcome to the Frome Beekeepers Association
The Frome Beekeepers' Association is located in the east of Somerset. We have a membership of about 100 beekeepers , friends and hangers on! We are a friendly bunch with experience levels from Master Beekeepers to those just starting out. We have several social events throughout the year. We run a beginners course starting in February as well as training for the BBKA Basic exams. We welcome new members either either as beginners or as blow-ins from other other parts of the country. We have a core of very experienced beekeepers who are happy to help and give advice to new beekeepers and members of the public. You will see us at various events like the Cheese Show and the Frome Festival. we have our own training apiary at East Woodland which is manage to help with ongoing training.
Asian (yellow legged) Hornets
Whilst Asian, or yellow legged Hornets have not been identified in the area around Frome yet, it is thought to be only a matter of time before we see them. They are a considerable threat to bees and other native wildlife as well as humans , if you are unlucky enough to disturb a nest. We recommend anybody, beekeepers and members of the public alike, to download and install the Asian Hornet Watch app on their phones which will help them identify and if necessary report sighting to the relevant authorities. For more information on this please see our contact page here
