Welcome to the Taunton Branch of Somerset Beekeepers Association Charity.
We have a modern, purpose-built clubhouse next to our own teaching apiary situated between Taunton and Wellington. We run courses, hold lectures, demonstrations and support members through our mentor and support network and of course enjoying time together talking bees at our regular Bee chat sessions.

2026 beekeeping Beginners course

This years’ Taunton Beekeepers Beginners Course  will start with the first theory session on Wednesday 25 Feb 2026 in the purpose built classroom at the Branch’s training apiary at Heatherton Park.  

Our Taunton Beginners Theory Course is aimed at people considering taking up the craft of Beekeeping or novice beekeepers wishing to expand their knowledge.  
The Taunton Beginners’ Theory Course consists of 6 x 1hr evening weekly sessions and is followed by the Practical Course with a series of “hands-on’ sessions in the apiary from April (dates for practicals may vary subject to weather conditions).

​Beekeeping taster afternoon

This will be an interesting and varied afternoon which includes:
• a talk about the basics of beekeeping and the beekeeping year
• a hands on experience of opening a hive and looking inside
• handling and looking at beekeeping tools and equipment including a hive
• honey tasting
• time to ask questions
• tea and cake
Experienced and friendly beekeepers will take you through all of this and will be on hand to answer all of your questions.
