2019 - 2020
After a club meeting in 2019 Frome beekeepers made a decision to establish a club apiary. A site had been explored and early February 2020 members cleared the site which was an overgrown hedge, cutting it back 15 to 20 feet, giving us a large site. The area was fenced, stands and bees installed with Covid restrictions being adhered to. A 40ft container was lifted into place in the summer, giving FBKA plenty of storage. The site has 5 National hives at present, all surviving the winter. Hopefully this year, 2021, will see the apiary used to its full potential with training days, open days and social gatherings when permissible.
